Stunting driver charged: 70 km/hr over the speed limit
On January 25 at 10:40 a.m., a member of the Halifax District RCMP was conducting routine patrols on Hwy. 102 in Fall River. They observed a vehicle travelling South at a high rate of speed and activated the RADAR. The vehicle’s speed was measured at 170 km/hr in a posted 100 km/hr area, 70 km/hr over the posted speed limit.
The RCMP officer conducted a vehicle stop, and the 19-year-old male driver was charged with Stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act. The vehicle was seized and impounded. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50.
The RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road Safety is a priority for the RCMP, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.
