At 2:38 p.m. on February 11, a member of RCMP Southeast Traffic Services observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Hwy. 14 in Chester. The vehicle was clocked at 154 km/h in an 80 km/hr zone, 74 km/hr over the posted speed limit. The driver’s licence was suspended indefinitely at the time of the traffic stop.
The 29-year-old man from Italy Cross, Lunenburg County was charged for Stunting and Driving while Suspended, under the Provincial Motor Vehicle Act. His license continues to be suspended and his vehicle was seized. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50.
Nova Scotia RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads.
