Sudden death diverts Air France flight to Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Halifax Stanfield International Airport, N.S.

Halifax District RCMP responded to a call regarding a medical emergency onboard Air France Flight 006.

At approximately 4:20 p.m. this afternoon, RCMP, Fire and EHS and were dispatched when a plane was diverted to Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

Investigation revealed the flight originated from Aéroport Charles de Gaulle in Paris and was destined to JFK Airport in New York. While enroute to JFK, a 58-year-old American man suffered a medical condition and unfortunately, the man died before the aircraft was able to land.

The body of the man was removed from the aircraft and passengers were able to continue on to JFK.

The investigation is continuing and RCMP do not suspect foul play.
