Summer Jobs for Students

Government is hiring more than 80 students across the province this spring and summer.

Fifty positions, from service jobs to land surveyors, have already been posted online and more positions will be posted during the coming weeks. Students will also be hired through internships and co-op placements directly with schools or will return to summer positions they successfully competed for in the past. Positions are based throughout the province.

“These jobs help students gain valuable work experience which greatly assists with launching their careers,” said Nova Scotia Public Service Commission Minister Labi Kousoulis. “We also benefit by learning from the creative ideas and enthusiasm students bring to the workplace.”

All the summer jobs are student positions. University, college and high school students are encouraged to apply.

This continues government’s commitment to hire younger workers in Nova Scotia.

Entry-level positions for younger workers and people with less experience are posted throughout the year.

In the last twelve months, more than 50 per cent of all those hired into the public service have been 35 or younger.

Since fall 2013, more than 1,800 public service positions have been filled by younger workers.
