Super 8 Beef Burgers Recalled

Nova Scotia’s chief public health officer, Dr. Robert Strang, is alerting the public not to eat Compliments brand Super 8 Beef Burgers that were recalled Oct. 2, by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

The product may contain harmful E.coli bacteria and is linked to a cluster of E.coli cases in Ontario. The product was distributed through Sobeys and Foodland stores in Nova Scotia. The packaging has a UPC of 0 55742 37055 3. The meat inspection legend says Canada 112.

“There are currently no confirmed or suspected E.coli cases associated with this product in Nova Scotia,” said Dr. Strang. “We are continuing to monitor the situation with our federal partners.”

Nova Scotians who have the product are advised to throw it out.

When cooking ground beef, including hamburgers, remember:
— cook all ground beef until a thermometer inserted into centre of the meat reads 71 C (160F)
— keep raw meat separate from other foods in the kitchen
— wash hands, cutting boards, utensils and counter tops with hot, soapy water if they touch raw meat
