HRP release:
On May 10 at approximately 12:15 p.m., officers responded to a robbery that occurred at the Cleves outlet store, located off Chebucto Road in Halifax. A man entered the store, took a quantity of product, threatened to shoot staff when confronted and then fled the scene in a vehicle. No firearm was seen, and staff were not physically injured. Other responding officers observed the vehicle near Windsor Street at which time it accelerated and fled. A brief pursuit occurred before officers terminated for public safety. The suspect and vehicle were unable to be located at that time.
During the robbery investigation, officers learned the suspect and vehicle, which was believed to stolen, were involved in other ongoing investigations, including a theft in Tantallon, that occurred earlier that day.
At approximately 4 p.m., with assistance from the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment K9 and ERT units, the suspect was located in a wooded area on Prospect Road and arrested. The vehicle was also recovered.
Jessi James Miles, 31, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
- Robbery
- Flight from peace officer
- Resist arrest
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Operation of a conveyance while prohibited
- Possession of stolen property over $5000.00
- Possession of stolen property under $5000.00
- Theft under $5000.00
- Breach of release order (x4)
