Suspect in Downtown bank machine robbery now facing attempted murder charge

Police have charged a man with attempted murder in relation to a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth earlier this month.

On January 1 at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred in the 0-100 block of Portland Street in Dartmouth. A man approached a woman who was at a bank machine, assaulted her and took her property. He then fled the area on foot. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division identified the suspect and were actively seeking him.

Last night members of the HRP Quick Response Unit and General Investigation Section with assistance from Halifax District RCMP patrol officers, stopped a vehicle in Cole Harbour and arrested the suspect without incident.

Jordan Anthony White, 41, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Attempted murder
  • Robbery
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace

White is also facing one count each of theft and possession of property obtained by crime in relation to a theft from the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission store on Chain Lake Drive that occurred on January 11, 2023.
