Early this morning, Halifax Regional Police apprehended a woman following a chase in Halifax. Around 3:50 a.m., during an impaired driving investigation, police tried to stop a vehicle near Brunswick and Prince streets.
The driver refused to halt, leading to a brief pursuit which the officers terminated for public safety. The suspect attempted to hit the officers with her car, but they evaded the impact. The chase ended when the driver crashed into a parked vehicle on Tower Road.
The police detained the driver and confiscated a knife. She was transported to the hospital as a precaution. Haley Nicole Quinn, 24, is scheduled to appear in Halifax court today to face charges of impaired operation of a conveyance, dangerous operation of a conveyance, flight from police, resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Quin was also arrested on two outstanding warrants for other police agencies in relation to charges for break and enter, theft under $5,000, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
