Millbrook RCMP has charged two men with multiple offences, including Attempt to Commit Murder, following a shooting in the community on Saturday.
On March 9, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Millbrook RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Gerald Ave. in Millbrook. Initial investigation indicated that two men attended a residence on Gerald Ave. and assaulted another man inside the residence, during which time a shot was fired. The two men then fled on foot.
A short time later, a responding officer heard what they believed was another shot fired in the immediate area.
Officers from the RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services, Colchester County District RCMP, Indian Brook RCMP, Cumberland County District RCMP, RCMP Traffic Services, RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, and Truro Police Service were all engaged.
Through the investigation, officers learned the two suspects entered a second residence on Gerald Ave. after the first incident and confronted two people, pointing a firearm and assaulting a 23-year-old man of Millbrook who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
At approximately 4 p.m., one of the suspects was located at a residence on Willow St. in Millbrook, and taken into custody outside the home. During the arrest, the suspect assaulted an officer, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was transported to the Millbrook RCMP Detachment without further incident. The residence was subsequently searched and officers recovered a loaded shotgun.
At approximately 5:40 p.m., the second suspect was located at a residence on Martin Cr., in Millbrook, where he was safely arrested and then transported to the RCMP detachment. During a search of the residence officers located and seized an unloaded shotgun.
The victim of the initial assault, a 31-year-old man of Millbrook, was located at a local hospital with an apparent gunshot wound to his foot.
Tristan William Standing-Ready-Gloade, 20, of Millbrook, has been charged with:
- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Assaulting a Peace Officer
- Assault
- Pointing a Firearm (two counts)
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Failure to Comply with a Probation Order (three counts)
Jeremy Lukas Paul, 26, of Millbrook, has been charged with:
- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Assault
- Careless Use of a Firearm
Standing-Ready-Gloade and Paul were remanded into custody and appeared in Truro Provincial Court today.
