Suspicious Circumstances

Officers are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man after he asked a child to get in his car in Dartmouth earlier this week.

On Monday, January 25 at approximately 3:50 p.m., a 12-year-old boy was walking in the area of Galaxy Avenue when a man stopped his car on the side of the road and asked the boy to get in. The boy ran home and the man, who was not known to the boy, did not follow.

This matter required further investigation, including meeting with the child to obtain a detailed description of the suspect. This occurred on Tuesday evening. The suspect is described as a white man, between 50-60 years old, with short grey hair, a grey beard and wearing a black jacket. The man was driving an older model, small grey car.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officers have been conducting special checks in the area for any suspicious activity and the School Resource Officer for the area has been involved.

Investigators are asking the man in the car who approached the boy or anyone else who has any information on this incident to contact police by calling 902-490-5020. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip – Tip 202 + your message to 274637.
