At 1:38 a.m. on September 17, police were called to 36 Montgomery Court in relation to a 20-year-old man who required immediate medical assistance. EHS transported the man to hospital where he later passed away.

Police transported a man and a woman, known to the deceased, from the scene to police headquarters for questioning in relation to the death. A 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both of Halifax, were arrested at approximately 6:20 a.m., but later released without charges around 8 p.m.

An autopsy was conducted on September 17 by the Medical Examiner’s Office; however, more in-depth testing was required to determine the manner of death. The Medical Examiner has now ruled the death a homicide and identified the victim as 20-year-old Sardar Ajmeer Nawabi of Halifax. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

A 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, who were previously questioned on September 17, along with a 52-year-old Ontario woman, also known to the victim, voluntarily attended police headquarters yesterday afternoon to be questioned. None of these individuals have been charged in relation to this incident and the investigation, led by the Homicide Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, is ongoing. This is not a random act and police are not seeking additional persons of interest in this matter.
