Suspicious fire at apartment house

Release:

On Thursday September 10, 2020 at approximately 11:10 pm., New Glasgow Fire Department and New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a 911 call about a house fire on MacDonald Street, New Glasgow, N.S.

When fire and police arrived on the scene, preliminary investigation of the fire proved to be suspicious.

Investigators indicated that the fire initially started between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m..

Investigation indicates that the fire started in the front of the house, causing extensive damage.

The house had four apartments, two on the bottom floor and two on the upper floor. Only the upper two apartments were occupied at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Red Cross attended on scene to assist with persons who were displaced by the fire.

New Glasgow Regional Police and New Glasgow Fire Department continue to investigate.  Police investigators are on scene at this time.
