RCMP release:

Colchester County District RCMP is investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred in Bayhead.

On August 29 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Colchester County District RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a Ford Escape in the 1700 block of Hwy. 6.

Responding officers learned the Escape was travelling north and was turning left off the highway when it was struck by the motorcycle, which was travelling south.

The driver and sole rider of the motorcycle, a 60-year-old man of Malagash, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the Escape, an 81-year-old woman of Tatamagouche, did not report injuries.

Hwy. 6 was closed for several hours but has since reopened. An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the location of the collision; the investigation is ongoing.
