Get ready for a steamy weekend. Environment Canada has issued a heat warning with humidex values expected to hit a scorching 36 degrees. The hot and humid weather will stick around from today through Monday, with daytime highs between 27 to 30 degrees Celsius, feeling more like 36 to 38 degrees with the humidity. It’ll be a bit cooler along some coastal areas, but overnight lows won’t offer much relief, hovering around 19 degrees Celsius.
This heat wave will affect most parts of Nova Scotia, except for the southwestern sections. The high temperatures combined with elevated humidity will create uncomfortable and potentially dangerous conditions over the next few days. By Monday night, we can expect a slight cool-down.
Remember, extreme heat can impact everyone’s health, so it’s crucial to check on older family members, friends, and neighbors several times a day to ensure they stay cool and hydrated. Never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles, as the temperatures can rise dangerously fast.
Heat warnings are serious and indicate conditions that pose a high risk of heat-related illnesses like heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Stay informed by visiting the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness website for more tips on staying safe during this heat wave.

Stay cool and hydrated, folks.
