Left to right: Bedford Councillor Tim Outhit, MLA for Bedford-Birch Cove Kelly Regan, Mayor Peter Kelly, Chamber of Commerce President Valerie Payn, MLA for Hammonds Plains-Upper Sackville Mat Whynott and President and CEO of the Waterfront Development Corporation Colin MacLean get ready to cut the ribbon.

The Official Opening of the latest section of the Bedford Harbourwalk took place this morning.

Excitement was in the air as Bedford locals showed their appreciation for the new Waterfront.

Located on the shores of the beautiful Bedford Basin, the 3.8 kilometre trail is shared by walkers, joggers, tourists and dogs.

Next to be added to the trail are benches and light fixtures. The grass will take in the spring.

Refreshments were served, along with cake and treats for dogs.

The Bedford Waterfront is “what gives this place community pride,” Colin MacLean, President and CEO of the Waterfront Development Corporation, said.

Mayor Peter Kelly encouraged the public to keep the pressure on, because it is this persistence that has made this happen.

“This is a vibrant living part of this community,” said Kelly.

Enjoy everyone!
