Taking steps towards a healthier lifestyle

Lace up and get moving!

Weight Watcher’s annual Walk-!T Day is coming to Bedford!

Every step counts when moving towards a healthier lifestyle. Join Weight Watchers as they partner with the fitness experts at Running Room for the third annual Walk-!T Challenge.

One of Canada’s largest walks, Walk-!T is a free five kilometre challenge for Weight Watchers members and the public alike, taking place in over 100 communities across Canada, including Bedford.

The Weight Watchers program focuses on four scientific-based pillars to help its members achieve success and physical activity is an integral part of this.

Walking tones muscles and burns calories. The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) recommends that adults aged 18-64 should accumulate at least 150 minutes of physical activity – such as brisk walking – per week, in bouts of 10 minutes or more, to achieve health benefits and help reduce the risk of:

– Heart disease
– Stroke
– High blood pressure
– Certain types of cancer, osteoporosis
– Obesity

Walking is also an easy and inexpensive way to get in shape and can be done at every level of fitness. So lace up those runners and join thousands of Canadians as they pound the pavement to get fit and have fun during the Walk-!T Challenge.
