Photos: Tanker Truck Fire Closes Highway 102 Wednesday Night Near Truro

January 15, 2014, Millbrook, Nova Scotia... RCMP were on the scene of a truck fire near mile marker 94, in the north bound lane on Wednesday night.  The truck was carrying a large amount of diesel fuel. Truro fire department actively fought the fire.   Assistance was provided by Transportation Infrastructure and Renewal and the Department of Environment.

Truro fire department actively fought the fire.   Assistance was provided by Transportation Infrastructure and Renewal and the Department of Environment.
 
Colchester Detachment RCMP members are investigating the fire.  The fire was reported at 5:09 pm.  The lone occupant and driver is safe.  Department of the environment responded with material and resources in the event of an oil spill.  Due to the potential for explosion the general public was requested to stay away from the area.  The 102 highway was closed in both directions for some time. 
 
The matter remains under investigation with assistance from partner agencies.
