Targeted street restrictions in peninsular Halifax
The Halifax Regional Municipality is continuing to impose targeted street restrictions in peninsular Halifax over the coming days.
Beginning on Friday, Sept. 13, street closures and parking bans will be in effect on various streets. Refer to the information below for specific details.
The restrictions are necessary to facilitate tree removal operations in the area.
The restrictions affect the following streets:

| Hillside Avenue | Street closed to traffic and parking from Robie to Agricola streets |
| North Street | Traffic Controlled in front of 6111 North Street |
| Kline Street | Street closed to traffic and parking from Oak Street to Chebucto Road |
Prohibited parking signage will be in place where necessary and vehicles will be towed if they are impeding the work of tree-removal crews.
Traffic control personnel will be on site wherever necessary.
The municipality apologizes for the short notice and any inconvenience this work may cause.

Access to municipal parks and public spaces
Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019 (Halifax, NS) – With over 900 parks throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality, crews are working to assess and remove the significant volume of downed trees and debris left from Hurricane Dorian.
All sports fields, artificial turf fields and ball diamonds have reopened.
Many municipal parks have reopened, with the notable exception of Point Pleasant Park, the Halifax Public Gardens, Victoria Park and Camp Hill where considerable restoration work is required. These were some of the hardest hit parks which sustained extensive tree damage as a result of strong winds.
The public can help with the clean-up effort by NOT entering Point Pleasant Park. Given its size and multiple access points, it may appear that there was no damage to the park, however there are a number of areas which are unsafe with downed trees. It is important that the public stay out of Point Pleasant Park until future notice. This will allow crews to finish their work more quickly and open the park sooner.
Safety as a priority:
- Do not clear downed trees or significant debris in municipal parks as this can be dangerous. Also, it can lead to potential contamination and spread of invasive species such as emerald ash borer and floating yellow heart. Please call 311 and debris removal will be handled by professional crews.
- Do not attempt to enter the restricted area near the collapsed construction crane on South Park Street. A road and sidewalk closure is in place on South Park Street from the south side of Spring Garden Road to the north side of Brenton Place. Part of Victoria Park is also off limits until the site of the collapsed construction crane is deemed safe. These closures will remain in place until officials deem the area safe.
