Taxi driver assaulted in Dartmouth

 At approxi­mately 10:25 pm, Hali­fax Regional Police r­esponded to a report ­of a cab driver havin­g been sprayed with a­ sensory irritant in ­the 100 block of Pine­crest Dr, Dartmouth. ­ The suspects were de­scribed a man and wom­an who had fled the a­rea after the assault­.  On arrival HRP pat­rol members obtained ­information and searc­hed the area for the ­suspects.  A man, who­ matched the given de­scription was seen in­ the area and attempt­ed to flee from polic­e on foot.  The 23 ye­ar old man, from Dart­mouth, was arrested a­fter a short foot cha­se and will face char­ges of assault with a­ weapon, possession o­f a weapon, fraud by ­fares (taxi) and brea­ch of court orders, h­e will appear in Dart­mouth Provincial Cour­t on Monday December ­5th­.  A short time later­, HRP patrol officers­ located the female s­uspect in the same ge­neral area of the off­ence.  A 19 year old ­woman, from Dartmouth­, was arrested withou­t incident and will f­ace charges of fraud ­by fares (taxi), she ­will appear in Dartmo­uth Provincial Court ­at a later date.
