Teamwork leads to seizure of contraband cigarettes, Digby, N.S.

Yesterday afternoon, police arrested and charged a man and woman after seizing a large quantity of contraband cigarettes. As a result of a short-term investigation, Annapolis County and Digby Street Crime Enforcement Units and the Service Nova Scotia Compliance and Special Investigations Unit conducted a traffic stop on Clementsville Rd.

As a result of a short-term investigation, Annapolis County and Digby Street Crime Enforcement Units and the Service Nova Scotia Compliance and Special Investigations Unit conducted a traffic stop on Clementsville Rd.

, Annapolis County yesterday shortly after 4 p.m.

Officers searched the vehicle and seized approximately 30,000 contraband cigarettes. Both occupants of the vehicle, a 48-year-old male and 49-year-old female of Clementsport, were arrested and are facing charges under the Federal Excise Act and Provincial Revenue Act.
