The new food court at Halifax Shopping Centre opens on May 4, three weeks from yesterday. Named “Terrace” it will be located in the lower level where the bowling alley used to be. The old food court will be closing to make way for new retail. It is all part of Halifax Shopping Centre’s extensive makeover.
Leaving the food court (in a way) is Venus Donair. It will be replaced by Mezza Kitchen. Mezza is the same owners but they delayed the conversion of this location knowing the replacement food court was forthcoming. There will be 13 vendors in total.
The new exterior entrance will follow a trend in North American shopping centres to have direct exterior access to food courts. Making the food court a destination for those who just want a quick bite, with options. The new space will also have and outdoor patio.
A few pics from construction in the last week or so.
