The 2012 CrossFit Games

As I sit here on my flight home from The CrossFit Games, I try to figure out the best way to put into words how to describe the experience to those of you who weren’t there, and I struggle. I guess the best way to start out is to talk about how awesome it was for me to finally get to meet some of my amazing FitFluential Teammates; Joe from the Hybrid Athlete, Heather from Run Faster Mommy, Tina from Carrots & Cake, Jess from Blonde Ponytail and of course our coach and GM, Kelly. I’ve been a FitFluential Ambassador for about a year now (the 3rd Canadian and 5th or 6th male to join, I might add) but this was my first experience with a FitFluential live event and I have to say it set the bar extremely high. We WERE at The CrossFit Games, for frig-sake, something I’ve been looking forward to for the past 6 months. In preparation for the games I started doing CrossFit style workouts and eating Paleo fulltime about 3 months ago and since then I’ve lost 4″ around my waist. This in itself had me inspired and excited about CrossFit, but now as I reflect on the weekend and as it all sinks in, it’s sparked roaring fire inside me. The athletes. The competitions. The camaraderie and community. I’ve drank the CrossFit Kool-Aid and it tastes amazing. To cover everything that we experienced over the past 4 days I’m going to have to write a lot! So for now, I’m going to leave you with this; The CrossFit Games were everything I expected them to be and much, much more. I want to make sure I thank the people at GNC and FitFluential for the opportunity to travel over 5,000 km and witness something that was so awe inspiring for me. To be able to be apart of something that influences others like CrossFit does, and to be able to take part in the experience, was something special and I wouldn’t have been there if it weren’t for them. They’ve also supplied me with some great supplements that will help me recover faster and stronger and help me push myself harder in the future. The same supplements they supplied The CrossFit Games competitors. Later this week I’ll be talking about all of that. I also want to thank Reebok for allowing me and the missus to workout and train with their awesome CrossFit team and for all of the new bad-ass apparel they gave me to try out. They were very welcoming and kind and introduced me to a product that I didn’t even know existed. As you know I’m a goalie in hockey, but what you may not have known is that most of my gear is actually RBK gear, and I love it. That being said, I’ve never really thought about Reebok as a sports and fitness apparel company to be able to compete with the likes of Under Armour and Nike, but after this past weekend, I’m not ashamed to admit that I was wrong! I’ll get into that more in another post. I took over 2,500 pictures and 15 videos this weekend and I’ve already shared some of that with you, but over the next week or two, I will share in-depth detail as to what I experienced first hand at The Games and what I plan to do next with my training and how CrossFit has influenced me. I. Am. Inspired. Did you follow The CrossFit Games? Are you inspired? Do you CrossFit? Have you thought about CrossFitting? Tell me about your CrossFit experience.  ...
