The 36th annual Peace Officers’ Memorial Service was held at Grand Parade, which honours Nova Scotian-based peace officers who died in the line of duty in Nova Scotia and elsewhere.
Peace officers, first responders, civilian employees, military personnel and volunteers marched from Police Headquarters on Gottingen Street to Grand Parade.
Participants from across the province then assembled at the Nova Scotia Fallen Peace Officers’ Monument for a brief ceremony to honour peace officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Wreaths were laid at the monument by representatives from each department.
Officers can’t do their jobs without the support and assistance from members of the public who want to do their part to make our community a safer place.
This well attended service provides an opportunity for the public and peace officers to come together to honour fallen officers.
