The Amazing Race: Second Chances

I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season of The Amazing Race, especially now that the teams have been confirmed. So let’s talk about who’s coming back.

Amanda and Kris (Season 14)

Do you remember Amanda and Kris? I don’t. They came in eighth place back in season 14, when they were U-turned in Russia. The mention of a woodpile being their downfall kind of jogged my memory, but I can’t remember anything about them as a team.

Gary and Mallory (Season 17)

Now you must remember Gary and Mallory, since the father/daughter team competed last season and came in sixth place. They’ve learned a few things since then (Mallory will drive more and they’re only bringing one backpack for the both of them) and I’d love to see them do well this time.

Herb and Nate (Season 15)

Flight Time and Big Easy! These guys are one of my favorite teams of all time. They came in fourth place in season 15 after not being able to unscramble the name “Franz”. I’ll be rooting for the Globetrotters to win again this year.

Jamie and Cara (Season 14)

These NFL cheerleaders came awfully close to being the first all-female team to win. Instead, they came in second. You might remember them as “That one that’s really mean and that other one that isn’t.” Now one has orange hair, so it’ll be even easier to tell them apart. Oh, and apparently Jamie is a Playboy Playmate now, and Cara is a Government Relations Consultant and law student. So there’s another way to tell them apart!

Jet and Cord (Season 16)

These brothers were America’s sweethearts and managed to come in second place. They’ll certainly have a lot of people rooting for them again this year, but will they be as lucky? Last time they played they definitely seemed to catch quite a few breaks.

Kent and Vyxsin (Season 12)

Wasn’t his name Kynt last time? Anyway, this colorful team came in fifth place on their season, getting eliminated after burning out the clutch in their stick-shift car. Let’s hope they’ve learned how to drive a stick this time.

LaKisha and Jennifer (Season 14)

Back in season 14, I really thought these girls would take things all the way to the end…and then they stopped to pee. That got them eliminated and they ended up in fourth place. Even though the sisters bickered a little, they were funny and likable and I’d definitely like to see them end up in the finals.

Margie and Luke (Season 14)

I’ll probably get a lot of crap for saying this, but I did not really care for Margie and Luke. They placed third in season 14 (remember the argument they had with Kisha and Jen?). The reason I didn’t like them was because I thought Luke didn’t treat his mom with enough respect – hopefully that won’t be the case again this season.

Mel and Mike (Season 14)

This father/son duo was a likable team, but at 70 years old will Mel be able to keep up? Last time they placed sixth, is it possible for them to beat that this season? I’m not so sure.

Ron and Christina (Season 12)

This father/daughter team placed second in their season, and despite Ron’s somewhat cold attitude towards his daughter they got along pretty well. How will they compete against so many other parent/child teams this season?

Zev and Justin (Season 15)

Zev and Justin only came in ninth place and I don’t remember much about them, so I can’t say I was thrilled to see their names on the list. Reading their bios, though, it turns out that their downfall was losing Zev’s passport. On the one hand, that’s certainly a crappy way to go out. On the other hand, Justin’s claim that he couldn’t think of the biggest mistake they made in their previous season makes me wonder if they’ve even learned their lesson.

What do you think of the list? Who are you surprised to see? Who do you wish was on here? (I would have liked to see Brook and Claire if it was possible, plus Steve and Allie from season 16, and Brian and Ericka from season 15.)
