The Annual Spring Clean Up put on by the Downtown Dartmouth Business Commission was a huge success. There was a great turnout of property owners and local businesses dedicated to battling against the tied of debris left over from the cold months.
The event is more than simply bagging up the trash, it is an event for everyone to meet other members of the Downtown Dartmouth community while cleaning up the streets for the summer. A fresh start. There were many notable household items found along the way such as vacuums, tvs, and chairs. Not surprisingly, the most frequently picked up item was our venerable, Canadian icon, the Tim Hortons Coffee Cup. Guess there is a message there to those who toss and drive.. but that’s another article. There were about 10 teams averaging about 5 bags each in one hour of clean up! Teams really got in the spirit dressing up to do the dirty job, but all in all the goal is to freshen up Dartmouth and create awareness around how little time it takes to make our community beautiful again.
A huge thank you to all those who dedicated their time and energy to making this happen and also to our roving reporter, Jen Gorman, for providing us with all the details of the event and taking some great snaps.
Keep an eye here for Jen as she will be contributing to Hello Dartmouth in the near future.
