The Barrington Steakhouse & Oyster Bar launched their Good Deed Burger initiative today at the restaurant on Barrington Street. The initiative will sell coupons for $10 which can be redeemed for one Good Deed Burger, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to local charities.
Executive Chef Alexandre Jolin came up with the idea for a burger after seeing how much additional beef the restaurant had to offer through their butchery program. Chef Jolin created the Good Deed Burger with the idea that all proceeds be donated to charity, and so guests could purchase a Good Deed Burger for someone else.
“The Good Deed Burger got its name because proceeds will go back to charities in the community, but also because you can purchase a burger for someone else. If you want to surprise a friend or co-worker or give one to someone who needs a warm meal, it’s a great way to give back.” Chef Jolin said of the initiative.
The burger will be made with in-house premium beef from Atlantic Beef Products. After hearing about the initiative, Atlantic Beef Products President Russ Mallard was excited about the idea. “We are proud to provide Barrington Steakhouse with exceptional quality beef and to support Chef Jolin with this great community initiative. It’s a great idea to pay it forward and we’re happy to support them with their first donation!”
Funds raised from burger sales will be donated to various local charities, on a rotating basis. The first donation from Good Deed Burger sales will go to Phoenix Youth Programs. “We are thrilled to be the first of many local charities that will benefit from the Good Deed Burger! At Phoenix we are celebrating 30 years of supporting youth, families and communities. Creative initiatives like this one, rooted in love for the community, raise crucial funds needed to make our work possible,” said Mel Sturk, Director, Communications & Community Relations, Phoenix.
Good Deed Burgers and Burger coupons can be purchased at The Barrington Steakhouse & Oyster bar located at 1662 Barrington Street in Halifax
