The Big Bang Theory: To Catch A Thief

Is it just me, or did last night’s episode of The Big Bang Theory kind of feel like we’d seen it before. Maybe it’s just because I was in a bad mood, having watched a recording of The Big Bang Theory right after the Grey’s Anatomy travesty. But there was something about Sheldon getting robbed in World of Warcraft and Penny saving the day that felt kind of recycled.

That said, I didn’t think it was a bad episode. It was funny, just not fantastic. And you know what I do love? All the stuff with Penny, Bernadette and Amy. The creation of that fab threesome has been the best development this show’s ever done, and I can’t wait to see more of them. (I hear there’s an episode where they take Sheldon dancing? I cannot wait.)

Of course Sheldon called the FBI and then the cops when he got robbed in World of Warcraft. Of course. The sight of Sheldon breathing into a paper bag was awesome, and I loved seeing the guys all rally together to seek revenge. Sheldon is so often the odd man out, the annoying tag-along, that it was nice to see the fellas actually come to his aid.

I still hate Priya – honestly, I don’t see how anyone could like her as a character – but I do like her presence on the show…for now. The final scene, where she and Penny walked up four flights of stairs in total awkward silence, pretty much sums up her purpose on the show. She’s an obstacle in the way of Leonard and Penny getting back together – and I hope they do – but she’s also a good villain. She makes Penny look even better than she used to. I’ve always loved Penny, but in comparison to the cold and somewhat selfish Priya, Penny looks like a saint. Their very different reactions to Sheldon’s imaginary robbery highlighted that, and we’re already starting to see the cracks in Leonard’s relationship with Priya.

Overall, I’d say it was an average episode. The material wasn’t as fresh as I would’ve liked, but there were some great one-liners. So check out my favorite quotes and then tell me what you thought of the episode.

  • “They took my battle ostrich!” – Sheldon
  • “There isn’t enough chamomile tea in the world to quell the rage in my heart.”- Sheldon
  • “Ah, here’s the alcohol and drug peer pressure mother warned me about. I was beginning to think it was never going to happen. Yes please!” – Amy
  • “He was robbed of a bunch of imaginary crap that’s useful in a make-believe place.” – Penny
  • “Three thousand hours, three thousand hours clicking on that mouse, collecting weapons and gold. It’s almost as if it was a huge waste of time.” – Sheldon
  • “People think I don’t get sarcasm.” – Sheldon, when Leonard is oblivious to a sarcastic jab from Priya
  • Penny: “Hey, we’re just heading out for a drink.”
Amy: “Because I do that now.”
  • The look on Raj’s face when he told Leonard that Priya spent the night Skyping with her ex.
  • “Excellent, it’s a cul-de-sac – we can box him in.” – Sheldon
  • Leonard: “Oh, geez, I…I don’t know if I can ditch Priya two nights in a row.”
Raj: “Oh, come on, man. Bros before…my sister.”
  • Leonard’s ringtone for Priya.
  • “Sea World is better. It has Shamu, who is literally tons of fun.” – Sheldon
  • Sheldon: “You know, the joke’s on him. Without the certificate of authenticity that batliff is worthless.”
Howard: “Yeah, he walked right into our trap.”
  • “I’m gonna show you how we finish a quest in Nebraska.”- Penny
  • “Today’s the day a girl’s finally going to touch you in your little special place!” – Penny
