Of all the packages I receive in the run of a day this one has got to be one of the most fun. Because I literally had no idea what was coming in this package it was an all around surprise, and I love surprises!
Complete with a note pad, and a really cool chiseled wooden pencil, the blind taste testing kit came in this really cool wooden box with three different compartments.
In the first there was unlabelled can of what was only labelled as including “5% alcohol”. So with my taste testing score card, and my handy dandy pencil I got to work taste testing this mystery beverage.
While taste testing I definitely noticed the peach flavoring right away, but it was still really subtle unlike some of the other flavored drinks I’ve tried before (which I like I’m not a big cooler drinker). I could tell it was some kind of beer and/or cider, but mostly the 5% alcohol level (and it being in a can) tipped me off.
I didn’t know however (until I read the leaflet in the second compartment) that it contained apricot which I thought was a great addition especially for summer! I really liked that it wasn’t overly sweet in fact it was very crisp, and almost tart (major win in my books). While reading the info leaflet provided I was impressed to know that I was almost bang on with my taste testing score sheet! Apparently my taste testing abilities are pretty good! lol go figure 🙂
Included in the third compartment that was cleverly disguised with some straw was another can of the Stone Fruit Cider to share with someone else. So what was this mystery beverage you ask? I was taste testing….. Molson Canadian’s new Stone Fruit Cider. “It’s not a cooler or beer. It’s cider”, and it’s delicious.
Because this cider is fruity, but also acidic it goes well with creamy and spicy foods. Molson suggests pairing it with roast pork, smoked salmon, apple crumble, or camembert – and you can even try cooking with it. I paired mine with some pizza and it was major delicioso!
I just loved this kit. It was very fun, and totally up my alley. I loved the cider it was crisp and fresh and I totally noticed the peach flavor right away, while the apricot was a pleasant surprise. Just remember if you are drinking to please drink responsibly.
