The Great Funraising Act

Who is Susan?

Susan is the amazing blogger behind The Great Balancing Act.  She is a certified personal trainer, a retired journalist and someone I had the great pleasure of getting to know about a year ago when a group of Canadian healthy living bloggers go together to plan a Canadian Health, Wellness & Fitness Conference called No Limits Canada.  We spent many hours on Skype and exchanging emails and this when I learned what a great person Susan was.

Recently, Susan was diagnosed with Lymphoma.  This is a tough pill to swallow because I know Susan is an immensely healthy person and lives a very healthy lifestyle and is a personal trainer, all things that I have in my life, and it shows you that even the healthiest of people aren’t safe from this disease.

Even though we are Canadian and yes we have healthcare, that doesn’t mean that our meds are paid for.  Actually, if you don’t have a health plan, you pay for all of your own meds out of pocket and when it comes to cancer meds, that is not cheap.  So this is where “The Great Fundraising Act” comes in.

The Great Funraising Act

What: An Online Auction to Raise Funds for Susan (all proceeds not used for Susan’s treatment will go towards the Moncton Hospital Oncology Ward)

When: July 25th, 2011

Where: http://mealsandmovesblog.com

Why: Because no one fighting cancer should have to worry about money!!!!

How: The auction bidding will run from 8:00 AM (EST) to 11:00 PM (EST) on Monday, July 25th, 2011. In advance of the auction, Janetha will post all of the amazing items up for bids (there will be over 100 items featuring yummy baked goods, clothing, food, and some donations from fantastic blogger-friendly companies). When the auction is over, winning bidders will be contacted and make their payment through PayPal.

Because some people have inquired about making direct donations, the organizers of the auction have created a PayPal account to accept direct donations into the fundraising account as well.

This is a great cause and I hope you join in on Monday and help out a fellow Canadian blogger.
