The MacKay Bridge will be closed to all traffic Sunday, September 15 from 5am until 10pm.

**** HHB Media Release

The MacKay Bridge will be closed to all traffic Sunday, September 15 from 5am until 10pm.

Work to inspect the main cable of the MacKay Bridge is complete and the inspection platform at the top of the main cable has to be removed. Its removal requires using several large cranes and the full width of the bridge. As a result it can’t safely be done with traffic on the bridge.

This work is highly weather dependent and will be rescheduled to the following Sunday if necessary.

There will also be two lane closures (one lane will be open in each direction) on the MacKay Bridge from 7pm Friday, September 13 evening until the bridge completely closes 5am Sunday, September 15 to continue with resurfacing the two Dartmouth-bound lanes.

There are no closures on the Macdonald Bridge.
