The pipes of Vimy Ridge

Seldom do I find myself at a loss for words, but today, a photo op took me to a place that is hard to explain.

Visiting the Nova Scotia Tattoo, Donny Mackenzie brought in to display very special bagpipes.  These pipes were played by  his great uncle, John Alexander “Blackjack” MacDonald the day after Canadians won Hill 145.  This being, ofcourse, the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

Approximately 3,598 Canadians were killed and another 7,000 wounded during this vital campaign in France.
