A Lunenburg man was arrested in Whitehorse, Yukon recently after he failed to appear in court in Lunenburg County on serious offences.
Larry Beverly Crouse 54, is charged with Impaired Driving and Driving With a Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg% from an incident that occurred in July 2018 on Hwy. 10 in New Germany. He was arrested for the offences when he was stopped on an ATV on a trail. Following a breath test, he was released on documents requiring him to attend court on August 29, 2018. He didn’t show up for court.
Crouse was also charged for Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Uttering Threats following an incident on August 25, 2018 where a victim called the police reporting they had been assaulted and threatened by him. Crouse was charged, remanded into custody and released on conditions from court on August 27. He was scheduled to return to court on October 31 and again failed to appear.
Members of Lunenburg District RCMP investigated and determined Crouse was in Whitehorse. With assistance of RCMP in Whitehorse, Crouse was arrested and turned over to Lunenburg RCMP who travelled to the Yukon to retrieve him. He was returned to Nova Scotia and taken to court. He is now being held in custody in this province and will be back in Bridgewater Provincial Court on January 30. He will be appearing on all of the charges noted above, and in addition, Fail to Attend Court and Fail to Comply with Conditions.
