So, why would I apply for this card over others?
I liked that the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card offers a very competitive rate ($99 annual fee) that provides true value and flexibility – and it’s very easy to accumulate points. First of all, you get 20,000 bonus points for being approved and making your first purchase (worth $200 in travel rewards). Basically, the bonus takes care of the fee plus gives you a little more.
With this card, it’s easy to earn points quickly on the things we do every day – like stocking up at the grocery store, filling up at the gas station, dining out and entertainment. You get four points for every dollar you spend when you make purchases in these categories, plus you earn 1 point for every dollar you spend everywhere else.
Redeeming points is also really easy, which excites me. First, if you want travel, there are no blackout dates, so you can redeem anytime, even at Christmas and over spring break. There are also no booking fees and even the taxes can be covered with travel rewards.
The part that I was really excited about and what made this the card I would want to go with was the wide variety of redemption options. Besides travel, you can redeem your ScotiaRewards points for merchandise or for Scotiabank investment or credit dollars that put your money to work for you. I love the fact you can redeem your points to meet your long-term financial objectives – for me that is smart.
Now if you are a traveler and book your travel with the card, even the insurance that comes with the card is highly competitive, with features like travel emergency medical, lost luggage, and trip delay. Travel service is even available globally with concierge specialists. Nice right?

SPONSORED POST: I have partnered with Scotiabank to write about the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card over the next few months. I will be letting you know about all the benefits I see, and my friend Brian may even guest post about his experience with the card. I am receiving compensation for writing the posts, but as always the opinions are mine.
