Oh hey, remember that time the whole of North America was obsessed with Who Wants To Be a Millionaire and Regis’s snazzy ties, and then it was on All. The. Time. and we were all like “Um, I like you and all, but I’m just not sure I’m ready for this commitment?”

Yeah. Welcome to The Voice. It is on too much! How many hours have I invested into watching these blind auditions? (Not as many as some of you – I fast-forward through all the sappy intro packages. Haha!)

But guys, we’re in the home stretch. And stretch is what they’re doing – did we really need a “Best of the Blind Auditions” episode? Come ON. If I’d known they were going to do that recap, I wouldn’t have been tuning in for the past fifteen weeks. (Hyperbole, I know.)

I obviously liked the girl who kicked off Monday night’s episode with the Taylor Swift song because, well, you’re talking to the girl who sings “Mean” to her cat when he bites. I also, predictably, liked the girl who did a country-fied version of Kelly Clarkson’s “Mr. Know It All”, as well as the gal who belted out “Cosmic Love” by Florence + The Machine.

Halfway through this episode, I had a conversation with my fiance, Rob. He hates how everyone auditioning has a sob story, and I couldn’t agree more. And I’m blaming The Voice for that one, not the contestants. It’s a tactic American Idol has long been employing, and I think it sucks.
a) The producers ask tons of questions and poke and prod those stories out of people.
b) There’s a lot of pressure on the people auditioning to come up with those stories, because it’s how you get featured on the show.
c) Getting featured in the audition rounds  –> Getting more votes later on

One of my favorites of the night was the girl who sang “A Thousand Years”. Her voice soared, and was so clear and radio-friendly.

So how have the teams shaped up? Team Adam is pretty evenly split between females and males, and it’s a pretty diverse group. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Adam win again. Team Christinais filled with a lot of young people, a lot of girls, and a lot of pop, radio-friendly, talented voices. There are definitely a few duds in there, but I think she could do well this season. I feel like Team Blake might be the weakest team – looking back at his singers, there aren’t a lot of really memorable performances. But Blake has a lot of fans at home watching, and that counts for something. Team Cee Lo is a mixed bag, but I think there’s a lot of talent there. When I look at his team, I see a lot of hipster glasses. Take from that what you’d like, I’m just pointing it out.

I did not watch “The Best Of The Blind Auditions” because, well, I’ve been watching the show. And while I enjoyed them, I’m glad we’re moving on. What do you guys think of The Voice so far this season?
