Halifax Regional Police is advising boat owners that several stored boats were broken into in Halifax.
Overnight on May 4, four boats that were stored at the Purcell’s Cove Marina located at 521 Purcell’s Cove Road, were broken into. It appears that thieves entered the boats by cutting the winter plastic wrap covering the boats. Numerous items stored in these boats were also stolen. There is no description of the person(s) responsible for these incidents.
Officers are asking anyone with information about these incidents or who has experienced a similar incident to contact police at 490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip – Tip 202 + your message to 274637.
Police reminds boat owners to remove valuables from your boat when not in use and make regular checks of your boat. Notify police if your boat has been broken into.
If you observe suspicious activity, report it to police by calling 490-5020. Try to get a good description of the person including height, weight, clothing and other details. Take a look to see if there is a vehicle parked nearby and make note of the license plate number, make and model of the vehicle.
