Third charged with arson, another Tim’s robbed

Third Person Charged in Arson

A Third person has been charged in relation to an arson on November 8th,  in Halifax.

At approximately 7:18 p.m., officers responded to assist Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency with a fire in the 5400 block of Sunrise Walk. It was determined that the fire was deliberately set.  Through continued investigative efforts by Gottingen Street Foot Patrol Officer's a seventeen year-old youth was arrested during the early morning hours of November 18th, without incident.

 He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Court November 18th, to face charges of arson and breach of probation charges.

Police Arrest Man in Robbery

At approximately 1130 pm, November 17th, Halifax Regional Police responded to a 911 call of a robbery in progress at the Tim Hortons, 278 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Upon police arrival on scene it was learned that a lone male entered the store wearing large dark glasses, a hat and  was covering his face with his arm. The suspect was also carrying a knife, he demanded that the clerk hand him the cash till. While the suspect was removing the money, the clerk leaned through the drive through window and told an approaching customer they were being robbed. The customer activated his Onstar Emergency Equipment in his vehicle and Onstar called 911. The male fled the store, with the cash. No one was injured in the incident and there were no other customers inside the store when the robbery took place.

Police responded to the area and were able to apprehend the suspect, as he fled. The suspect when arrested had the money taken from the cash till in his pockets. The knife used in the robbery was located near the Tim Hortons.

A 37 year old Halifax man is currently in custody and being interviewed by Detectives. The suspect will face robbery charges at a later date.
