Thousands of mowers and side-by-sides recalled due to fire and burn hazard

Health Canada release:

A major recall has been issued for Kawasaki Engines used in several well-known lawn and garden equipment brands, including Bad Boy Mowers, Bobcat, Cub Cadet, Hustler, John Deere, and Kubota. The recall is due to a significant fire and burn hazard associated with these engines.

Recall Details

The recall specifically involves various models of Kawasaki Engines, which have been found to overheat, potentially causing fires and burn injuries. The issue centers around the 21066-0785 voltage regulator on select Kawasaki engines. Although no incidents have been reported in Canada, there have been eight reports of fires in the United States, with no injuries reported.

  • FX850V (ES24, FS24, GS24)

Background

Over 68,500 were sold in the United States and Canada between April 2021 and December 2023. These engines were manufactured in the USA by Kawasaki Motors Corp, based in Maryville, Missouri.
