At 9:10 a.m. this morning, Halifax District RCMP with assistance from Halifax Regional Police (HRP) and RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), responded to a report of an assault and threats from a home on Mallard Lane in West Chezzetcook.
Police determined that the suspect was in possession of a firearm and had fled the area in a truck prior to police arriving.
The truck was located shortly after in a gravel pit off of Montague Mines Rd. in Montague Gold Mines and at 10:30 a.m., the suspect was arrested without incident nearby. Police were unable to locate the firearm and continue to search for it.
A 44-year-old man from West Chezzetcook has been remanded into custody and is facing charges of Assault, Uttering Threats and Pointing a Firearm. He will be appearing in court at a later date.
Additional charges are pending following the search of his property.
