Three men are facing a total of 40 charges following a search in Oakfield Friday evening.
On Friday, May 8th, Halifax District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit(SCEU), with assistance from the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team and Halifax Regional Police (HRP) East Quick Response Unit, executed a search warrant at a home on Siding Lane.
A number of firearms were seized during the search including two hand guns, 13 long guns and ammunition. Three adult males, ages 18, 21 to 48, all from Oakfield, were arrested at the home without incident.
As a result of the search, the 18-year-old man is facing 29 charges:
Unsafe Storage of a Firearm x 8
Possession of a Firearm knowing it is unauthorized x 8
Possession of a Weapon obtained by Crime x 8
Possession of a Restricted Weapon with Ammunition x 2
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose x 2
Unauthorized possession of Prohibited Device
The 21-year-old man is facing charges of Possession of a Weapon obtained by Crime, Possession of a Firearm knowing it is unauthorized, and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm. The 48-year-old man is facing charges of Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Device, Possession of a Firearm knowing it is unauthorized, Possession of a Firearm without a Licence and Possession of a Restricted Weapon with ammunition.
All three have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 30th, 2015.
