Three youth in custody after attempted robberies

Police are investigating three reports of attempted robberies that occurred this evening in Halifax.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery at Morris St. and Queen St. in Halifax.

A 19-year-old woman and a 22 year old woman were approached by three females while walking in the area. The suspects attempted to take one of the women’s purses. When the victim refused to let her purse go both victims were assaulted by the group. One of the female suspects was believed to be armed with a knife. The victims were able to get away from the suspects and the suspects left the area on foot.

Police then received a call from a 21 year old female who reported she had been approached by three people wearing bandanas near Morris St. and Birmingham St. but she was able to get into her car and drive away. Police then received a call from a 24 year old female victim who reported she had been approached by three females near Morris St and Birmingham St. who attempted to take her belongings and when she refused to let go she was assaulted. She was able to get away from the group and call police.

Officers were quickly in the area and were able to take three female youth matching the descriptions of the suspects into custody.

** Update :

During the course of our investigation into the three reports of attempted robberies at approximately 7:30 pm on October 8, 2018 we are looking to identify two male witnesses.

They intervened and assisted two of the female victims during one of the attempted robberies near the intersection of Morris St. and Birmingham St. in Halifax.
