Nova Scotians will lose some sleep but gain some daylight when the clocks move forward into daylight time this weekend.
Nova Scotians are reminded to move their clocks forward at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 12, or on Saturday evening before they go to bed.
Some cell phones do this automatically, but other devices such as microwave ovens, car clocks, watches, and automatic timer lights should be checked.
It is also a good opportunity to clean dryer vents to prevent fires and change batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Smoke detectors should be tested monthly and replaced every 10 years.
