Happy May! With Mother’s Day around the corner – we want to make sure our HRM Moms get to have all the pie they want this year. Sorry Dads but this Time Well Spent is all about Mom! That doesn’t mean you should stop reading though, in fact re-read it, save it, print it and do what you can to help make something on this list of “mom time” happen.
Five minutes, a few hours or a whole day – whatever you can squeeze our of your schedule will be worth it to help you get some well deserved mom time to catch your breath, relax and recharge.
Coffee Break – we’re not talking about a double-double from the drive-thru that you have to drink fast to avoid getting spilled, but an official coffee break just for you. Grab the newspaper, a book or a friend and head to a coffee shop for a little chill time. Make it even more of an occasion and head to one you don’t normally visit with the kids.
Get Creative – Whether you like to sew, take photographs, paint or write, why not use your mom time to get the creative juices flowing. You know what I’m talking about. The little project you’ve wanted to try but just haven’t had the time for. Well now is the time, take a few hours and dust off the sewing machine or grab the camera and create!
Home Alone – you don’t always have to leave the house to get some me time. Have dad, a sitter or relative take the kids out of the house for some time at home. Turn up the tunes and dance like nobody is watching (cause nobody is!), pop in a yoga video, organize your closet, do that one thing you’ve been meaning to do, or just hang on the sofa and watch what you want on the TV. Just enjoy the quiet of your own home.
Girl Time – who wouldn’t love more time with the girls. Gather your kindred spirits and head out for a “kid-less” play date. Plan a brunch, some cocktails or a road trip and make a rule not to spend the whole time talking about the kids. There’s nothing better than some good laughs with the girls to recharge the soul.
Pamper Yourself – this one speaks for itself. Whether you lock the bathroom door and fire up the bubbles and face mask with a book or head out for the royal treatment at a local spa, there’s no better time than Mother’s Day to treat your mind and body to some well needed love.
Garden, Volunteer, Exercise – the list goes on. Whatever you do, it’s so important to take time for yourself. You deserve it and if it helps you to keep being a great mom, it’s worth every minute you get.
