Too Hot For The Kitchen

It was waaaaaaaaaaay to hot to even think about turning the stove on this evening.  Lovely temps within the mid-thirties humidex range. YUCK.  I like low-twenties with a nice cool breeze. 😉

Enter the BBQ & Salad.

This monster of a salad was really quite simple – baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, croutons & a sprinkle of fresh parm.  Later on I drizzled it with an olive oil + honey combo.

I need more of these tomatoes!

On the grill went a few pieces of steak and a packet of taters.

The steak was topped with fresh pepper & hickory BBQ sauce.  Really juicy, just the way I like it!

Taters were tossed in olive oil and the chipotle maple pepper seasoning.  Sprinkled with green onion.

A fresh and tasty dinner.

What do you think of my new dishes?  I picked up a few new pieces when I was out earlier.

I’m sitting in front of the fan now catching up on blogs and wondering why no one is entering the Operation Beautiful book giveawayis it too complicated to enter? Has everyone already bought a copy?

I added a Shred Challenge Page to the blog.  Going to try to update it with my general thoughts, measurements etc. all during the challenge.

In other not so fun news, Hurricane Earl is scheduled to hit Nova Scotia on Saturday as a Category Two Hurricane – this means super strong winds and rain.  AKA, the power will most likely go out.

Back in 2003 hubby and roughed it through Hurricane Juan in our tiny apartment without power for 4 days.   We lost a freezer/fridge full of groceries and couldn’t shower.  🙁  Pretty much all of Halifax & area was shut down.  Hopefully it won’t be that bad.

In anticipation of everyone going crazy at the end of the week, I stocked up on supplies after work and dug out other necessities once I got home.  Here’s the general idea:

    • Our big “light up the entire room” flash light, charged
    • Multiple flashlights with fresh batteries
    • Extra batteries
    • Loads of tea light candles
    • Hand sanitizer

    • Various canned goods with “pop tops” & soup
    • Big bag of mixed nuts & dried fruits
    • Energy & granola bars
    • 10L of H20
    • Band Aids (we needed a new box anyways)

I still need to refill the propane.  And then we’ll also have to tidy up outside – bring the BBQ  & patio furniture in.  Make sure the green bin is secure etc.  Friday night I’ll fill the bathtub with water, make sure the crackberry is charged and pull out a deck of cards and some board games.

Anyways, I’ll be following it along on Storm Pulse all week…. here’s hoping this was all for nothing. 😉
