Tractor trailer collision closes Highway 103

Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer load of lobster and haddock, near midnight. The collision occurred on Hwy. 103 near Exit 6, in Hubbards. Some of the cargo spilled during the collision.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Lunenburg District RCMP was assisted by the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal to close Hwy. 103 between Exits 6 and 7, to allow workers to clear the scene of debris, unload the cargo and re-load it on to another truck.

The highway is expected to re-open late this afternoon. The matter remains under investigation, however no charges are expected.
