Traffic rerouted on Highway 103 as RCMP investigate fatal collision, Hebbs Cross, N.S.

Lunenburg County RCMP are on scene of a head-on collision on Highway 103 in Hebbs Cross. At approximately 3:55 p.m. today, Lunenburg County RCMP, Emergency Health Services (EHS), Bridgewater and Hebbs Cross Fire departments and Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal responded to a report of a two vehicle head-on collision between exits 14 and 15.

At approximately 3:55 p.m. today, Lunenburg County RCMP, Emergency Health Services (EHS), Bridgewater and Hebbs Cross Fire departments and Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal responded to a report of a two vehicle head-on collision between exits 14 and 15.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the collision occurred between a SUV traveling westbound and a mini-van traveling eastbound. The lone male occupant of the SUV was transported to the South Shore Regional Hospital with serious injuries. The male driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene while the female passenger was transported to the South Shore Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

Highway 103 is expected to be closed for three hours and traffic is being rerouted through the Camperdown Rd. An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist is en route to the scene and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays.
