Traffic stop leads to arrest of impaired driver on parole

Over the long weekend of August 1 to 3, Queens RCMP conducted multiple checkpoints near Carters Beach in Port Mouton. During one of the checkpoints in the early evening of August 2, a car came through and police observed signs of impairment on the driver and they began an investigation.

The driver initially provided a false name to the members and further investigation revealed the driver was a 25-year-old man from Dartmouth who was also on Parole. The driver failed the roadside screening device. He was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the detachment to provide further breath test.

The man was charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Operating a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Level Over 80 mg%. He was also charged with Giving False information to Peace Officer under the Motor Vehicle Act of Nova Scotia. His parole was revoked and a warrant was issued.

He was held in custody and is schedule to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court at a later date.
