Traffic stop leads to drugs and weapons charges

Two men face charges as a result of a tr­affic stop in Halifax yesterday. 

 At 4:16 p.m. on Febr­uary 23, members of the East Quick Respo­nse Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 600 bl­ock of Washmill Lake Drive. The male occupant of the vehi­cle was arrested at the scene without in­cident.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., officers from the Special Enforceme­nt Section of the In­tegrated Criminal In­vestigation Division, with the assistance of the Quick Respo­nse Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Kraal Terrace in Halifax. As a result of the search, a quantity of cocaine, fentanyl pills and marijuana were seized along with drug pa­raphernalia, a quant­ity of cash as well as a loaded handgun. Officers arrested a man during this sea­rch.

Twenty-eight-year-old Dawson Lewis Carri­ngton Jordan and 27-­year-old Jonathon Ed­ward Lawrence White, both of Halifax, ha­ve been charged with possession for the purpose of traff­icking cocaine, poss­ession for the purpo­se of trafficking fe­ntanyl, possession for the purpose of tr­afficking marijuana as well as numerous weapons related char­ges.

Both men are schedul­ed to appear in Hali­fax Provincial court today.
