Transit priority extension on Barrington Street

**** HRM Media Release

Transit priority extension on Barrington Street

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that construction of the southbound Barrington Street bus lane extension between Glebe Street and Devonshire Avenue, is now complete.

The bus lane between Glebe and Richmond streets will run on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Parking will be restricted during these times.

The bus lane between Richmond Street and Devonshire Avenue will run at all times. There will be no parking, day or night, on the west side (southbound) section of the street.

This installation adds approximately 1300m of transit priority onto this important corridor that spans from Glebe to North streets and helps buses move through traffic more efficiently.

This work was completed as part of the Integrated Mobility Plan to create a more convenient and comfortable active transportation connection, while prioritizing transit.
