Second Ford F-150 recall after first recall fails to fix issue

Transport Canada has issued a recall for the Ford F-150 light truck and van, specifically the 2022 model. This recall, identified under Transport Canada Recall number 2023638, comes after a discovery that the software update performed during a previous recall (22C22, Transport Canada Recall 2022-520) might not have been executed correctly.

The main concern revolves around the vehicle’s parking lamps, which could flicker under certain conditions. This issue is significant because Canadian regulations mandate that parking lamps must remain constantly lit when the headlights are on. Notably, this recall only affects vehicles equipped with LED parking lamps.

The safety risk associated with this defect is substantial. Improperly functioning parking lamps can reduce the vehicle’s visibility, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.

As a corrective action, Ford plans to reprogram the LED driver module (LDM). Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by mail with instructions to take their vehicles to a dealership for the necessary repairs.
