Truck and trailer abandoned after chase, woman arrested

RCMP release:

Cumberland County District RCMP has arrested a woman in relation to a vehicle and trailer that were stolen from Moncton, New Brunswick.

At approximately 7:25 a.m. on May 28, Cumberland County District RCMP responded to a report of a pick up truck hauling a trailer being driven erratically on Hwy. 104 in Upper Nappan. Responding officers located the truck and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. Officers deactivated their lights and sirens and did not pursue the vehicle in consideration of public safety.

Through investigation, it was learned that the truck and trailer had been reported stolen from Elmwood Dr. in Moncton earlier that morning.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., Cumberland County District RCMP, with assistance from the Cumberland County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) and RCMP Air Services, located the pick-up truck and trailer, which had been abandoned, in Westchester Valley.

RCMP Police Dog Services tracked the driver and located her a short time later in a wooded area near where the truck and trailer were found. Officers safely arrested the woman for flight from police, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of property obtained by crime.

The 33 year old woman of Moncton, was held in custody and turned over to the New Brunswick RCMP, which is leading the ongoing investigation. The truck and trailer have been returned to the owner in New Brunswick.
